Lambung is an upper garment worn by Hanunuo Mangyan women (Foronda, 2022). The base fabric is cotton dyed in indigo. It features a minimalist front with a square neckline and a large four-spoked red embroidery outlined in white threads at the back of the bodice. Four smaller four-spoked motifs are embroidered around the central motif. All five motifs feature three-pronged, trident-like embroidered details at the ends of each spoke. These motifs, known as the pakudos, are derived from the shape of a cross (Foronda, 2022). Thin lines of stitching run along the seams and hemlines, extending from the bodice and neckline to the sleeves. A thicker red embroidery, lined with white stitching, is stitched on the sleeves and along the sides of the bodice. The embroidery on the sleeves joins each sleeve to the bodice, while the embroidery along the sides of the bodice secures the garment’s base fabrics and highlights its edges.
