RESEARCH DATA:

Woven on a white background using a plain weave technique, and designed with light-colored red and yellow stripes at both ends, this textile is a lower garment for men, created by textile revivalist Patis Tesoro. The weaving practice observed among the Tinguian or Itneg people is characterized by a simple yet sophisticated execution of designs (San Agustin, 2007). This includes the use of pure white cotton as the base of textiles, as seen in women’s skirts and men’s loincloths.
