Woodcarving is one of the well-known Ifugao traditions that are deeply tied to their beliefs, ceremonies, and even to the most common activities in their everyday life. The wood carved items created for rituals, as well as the wooden utilitarian objects, reflect the skills and expertise of local artisans and craftsmen, showcasing their ingenuity through their creations. This process of carving wood requires the use of specialized tools, such as the pandaras/panduyas, which is an example of a woodcarving tool used like a chisel to shape and add designs to the wood.
