RESEARCH DATA:

The hagabi is a prestige bench associated with the kadangyan (affluent class) in traditional Ifugao societies. It serves as a recurring motif in Ifugao wood carving tradition, appearing in functional items such as spoons, ladles, and spice servers, as well as miniature household displays. Miniature versions of the hagabi were often given as tokens or gifts to clan members and symbolized the social status of the owner within the affluent class, showcasing the thriving material culture of Ifugao society (Salvador-Amores, 2018).
