RESEARCH DATA:

Woven using plain weaving and supplementary weft methods, this headcloth from the collection is an Itneg salapnot, a traditional headpiece commonly worn by men. The red and yellow-green supplementary weft patterns tessellate to form a series of diamond-like motifs, appearing both in the negative white spaces and in the positive red and yellow-green brocades. If observed closer, the brocades also reveal repetitive patterns similar to the mortar-like motifs commonly found in Abra textiles.
