RESEARCH DATA:
The balikes, or barikes, is a hand-woven textile of the Tinguian or Itneg of Abra used as a belt or headcloth (Salvador-Amores, 2019). This particular textile is an innovative balikes created by Patis Tesoro. The fabric used to create this piece was initially intended for a blanket. The design is based on a traditional dinapat blanket pattern, which features geometric shapes such as diamonds and triangles that form bituwen or star-like motifs.
