RESEARCH DATA:

The tangungu, also known as kaob in Tadian, is a wooden container originating from Mountain Province. It often features two anthropomorphic or zoomorphic figures positioned on opposite shoulders (Kohnen and Kohnen, 1986). These containers, used for storing meat, come in various forms. Some are adorned with stylized zoomorphic or anthropomorphic heads at each end and have distinct animal-like legs. Tangungu containers are also employed for storing food on special occasions. Additionally, known as kaob, they serve a unique purpose during chono festivities, where the feasting commences after cutting the rattan threads sealing the kaob (Reid, 1961 as cited by Prill-Brett, 2018).
