RESEARCH DATA:

Farming is a primary form of subsistence in the Cordillera region, particularly rice cultivation. To store harvested rice, farming communities utilize a variety of containers, including wooden carved containers and woven baskets, available in diverse shapes and sizes. Baradas (1990) notes that many grain containers are hollowed-out logs sealed at both ends, effectively protecting rice grains from insects and rats. Some containers feature embellishments such as animal figures on the top and cover, while others incorporate anthropomorphic figures embracing the entire container. Additionally, animal forms may serve as hooks or handles.
