RESEARCH DATA:

A traditional wooden rice container from Mountain Province is typically large, round, and flat or dome-shaped, with fitted lids and minimal embellishments.

In the Cordillera region, farming is a key form of subsistence, with harvested rice being stored in various containers. These containers, made of carved wood or woven baskets, come in different shapes and sizes. Baradas (1990) explained that many grain containers are hollowed-out logs sealed at both ends to protect the rice grains from insects and rats. Some containers feature animal figures on the top and cover, while others incorporate anthropomorphic figures embracing the entire container, along with animal forms serving as hooks or handles.
