Pipes

In the Cordillera, brass pipes are used as items for social smoking. Brass pipes are less common than their wooden and clay counterparts, but they have greater associations with displaying one's social status as a wealthy member of the community. The brass metals are also less common materials. Respect is shown to artisans who specialize in brass pipe metalworking, considering the lengthy time in the production of a piece. The more intricate the details on the brass pipes, the more time was spent making them. Finely crafted brass pipes convey the owner’s affluence, and oftentimes, they were used to display that status during social gatherings.
