RESEARCH DATA:

The Ifugao dungdung is ceremoniously positioned on top of a woman's head during both wedding celebrations and funerals. Remarkably scarce, these figurines are primarily found in the towns of Kiangan in Ifugao. Typically adorned with long strings of white embroidery beads, gracefully hanging down from the outstretched arms, the use of glass beads in this context likely traces its origins to the historical use of seed beads. The outstretched arms of the figurine symbolize a dancing person, evoking the celebratory atmosphere during significant cultural events.
