RESEARCH DATA:

The prominent design in this finely woven blanket is the diamond-shaped minat-mata (eyes). Another distinguishing feature of the pinagpakhan is the white and black colors at the center. The upper and lower panels typically combine red and black. The dominant frieze design pattern includes minat-mata (eyes) and tiktiko (snake) motifs. The depiction of a snake following a human is common and symbolizes a good omen or luck for the living relatives of the deceased (De Las Peñas and Salvador-Amores, 2016).
