RESEARCH DATA:

The bayaong among the Bontoc has become a standard blanket for both men and women. It is worn not only at funerals but also during rituals and festive occasions. The design patterns include inalsong (rice mortar), falfeg (spearheads), minatmata (eyes), and others. There are broad stripes of blue that complement the red stripes found on the blanket. In some cases, the bayaong is also used as a funerary blanket. This type of blanket is also similar to the bayya’ung in Ifugao and the dil-e among the Ibaloy.
