RESEARCH DATA:
The bayya’ung among the Ifugao has become a standard blanket for men and women. In the past, it was worn exclusively by men, but nowadays it is worn by men and women. The design and patterns include the linuh’hung (double mortar), hinolgat (spear head), and hinulgi (spears) patterns. There are broad stripes of blue that complement the red stripes found on the blanket. This blanket is made of three panels. In some cases, the bayya’ung is also used as a funerary blanket. This type of blanket is also similar to the fayaong in Bontoc and the dil-e among the Ibaloy.
