RESEARCH DATA:

Many Cordillera wooden artifacts are known for featuring familiar figurative carving motifs of humans, animals, and inanimate objects. However, there are also many items that are simply crafted and serve purely as utilitarian objects, such as this set of wooden flat bowls or plates from the collection, commonly used by the Ibaloy of Benguet and Kankana-ey of Mountain Province. Made entirely from wood, these carved items serve as flat bowls to be used as plates during meals. Signs of wear, including scratches and discoloration, are evident on the surfaces of these items.
