RESEARCH DATA:

Exclusively used as spice servers, the miniature duyu from Ifugao is known as bannahhan. Characterized by notches on the bowl's rim, creating a star-like appearance, these miniature duyu were designed for the purpose of dispensing spices. Maintaining the duyu in good condition involves washing and cleaning the bowl after each meal, as noted by Ellis in 2009.

A distinctive feature of the duyu is its glossy black finish, achieved by gently rubbing the exterior of the bowl with duck fat or lard, along with incorporating soot deposits from the cooking fire, as highlighted by Ellis in 2009.
