RESEARCH DATA:
The lingling-o, an ear and neck adornment in the Cordillera Region, is crafted from gold, silver, copper, and brass. Taking the form of an almost closed "C" with the opening perpendicular to the ground, it originated as an archetypal abstraction of the uterus and the womb. According to Maramba (1998), the "C" shape with the ends pointing inwards is associated with fertility, while the stylized form with double-headed attachments represents the reproductive system, including tubes and ovaries.
