RESEARCH DATA:

A coiled brass bracelet known as giniling in Ifugao is traditionally worn by women on their lower arms, while men opt for larger versions named padang which is worn on their calves. To wear these bracelets, the brass must be heated and recoiled each time, explaining why wearers often keep them on for extended periods. The giniling, a coiled brass arm bracelet, typically comprises twenty to forty coils, reflecting the wearer's social status. According to Ellis (1981), Ifugao women wear it on their wrists, while wealthier Ifugao women may wear them on both wrists. The length of the giniling tends to be longer for affluent individuals.
