RESEARCH DATA:

This is used by the Ga’dang as ritual cloth where the elders or ritual specialist would place pieces of cloth and offerings such as betel nuts and tobacco. This practice is to appease the spirits believed to cause the misfortune and illnesses in the community. It has diamond-eye motifs woven across the surface of the cloth, with embossed stripes accenting its side edges. The fabric is dyed in a deep indigo shade.
