RESEARCH DATA:

This particular blanket is designed and woven by Irene Bawer-Bimmuyag, a cultural bearer and master weaver from Lubuagan, Kalinga. The woven textile represents an innovation with its bright-colored threads, embroidered designs, and the combination of patterns drawn from culture and nature. The textured features of the embroidery on striped bands give an embossed look to the colorful motifs, designs, and decorations, such as mini lattices and continuous lozenge patterns. For her, the inspiration comes from the verdant rice terraces in her hometown, viewed from above, and this is reflected in her weaving and embroidery.
