The binobodan is made using a tie-dye technique known as ikat, which is practiced by the weaving communities of Banaue and Kiangan in Ifugao. This particular blanket features designs created through the ikat technique and depicts the Ifugao way of life. The presence of a hagabi is an iconic symbol of the affluent Ifugao. The kadangyan (affluent) are those who can afford to have this blanket made for ceremonial and ritual occasions.
