RESEARCH DATA:

This type of painga is suspended from the earlobes. The string of embroidered beads goes over the ears and behind the neck which serves to relieve the weight off the earlobes and prevents them from becoming too stretched (Anderson, 2010). These earrings are adorned with intricate, colourful beadwork and precious agate at the centre of the strings of beads.
