RESEARCH DATA:

A long chest ornament composed of barrel-shaped agates, silver lingling-o, and embellished with glass trade beads sourced from various locations. According to Ben Abellera (1981) In Kalinga-Apayao, agates are the ultimate prestige symbol. They can represent a family's riches, courage, or ability to make purchases. Traditional beads typically include agate beads, and the quantity and quality of agates determine the value. Since they are the most valuable beads, they are positioned in the necklace's most noticeable areas, such as the middle (bayoyok),"takray," of a waist-long winayway or pilakid (most valuable bead ensemble worn across the chest).
