According to Lambrecht (1957), the people of Moyoyao, Ifugao set the gubu trap to catch crayfish in stagnant water. The bait is attached inside the lid with the closed lid facing down then the fish trap is placed vertically in the bottom of the water. In addition these types of traps are mostly tended by children who are given the task of setting them at dusk and collecting them in the morning. The traps are carried back during the day time to the household and will be hung in bunches to dry in the sun.
