RESEARCH DATA:
Rice fields have abundant edible snails. According to Jenks (1905) the women in Bontoc invariably wear a small, rounded basket called aggawin around their hips when working in the rice paddies. Edible snails collected in the field will serve as a meal. The basket can also be used in gathering bird eggs that can be found in the fields.
