Recreational Items
Artisans of the past created numerous woodcarving items, ranging from those deeply connected to rituals and ceremonies to various utilitarian objects including the ones for recreation and socialization. For instance, there is a diverse collection of wooden pipes from the Cordillera, each with unique designs, motifs, and styles. Modern carvers have also crafted chess pieces with intricate details, featuring motifs commonly used in the region. This collection includes two types of recreational items: wooden pipes and chess pieces.
While the chess was introduced during the American colonial era, artisans found themselves carving pieces with inspirations from their own culture. These items also made it to the local trade.
